The Wager

The Wager is a clever comedy by Mark Medoff, the playwright who gave us the highly acclaimed Children of a Lesser God and When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder? He shifts gears in this play and gives us a “quartet” of interesting and amusing characters. This delightful comedy is packed with sophisticated wit and insightful comedic situations.

The Studio Theatre is located at M113 in the Martin and Pat Fine Center for the Arts.

Free Admission, no reservations.

The house opens one-half hour before curtain time. Plan to arrive early to assure seating. No one will be admitted after the play begins or seating capacity has been met.

Jon Dadurka and Friends


Originally from Virginia, Jon has lived in Miami for the past 10 years. Jon received his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Miami and currently teaches a variety of music courses and private lessons at MDC. While at the University he performed with the acclaimed UM Concert Jazz Band which during that time performed with Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Bob Mintzer and traveled with the band to New York to perform at the IAJE Jazz Convention. His performances include touring with LA smooth jazz guitarist Steve Oliver, recordings featuring Arturo Sandoval and Vicky Carr, and opening festivals and shows for Chris Botti, The Yellowjackets, and The Dixie Dregs.

Jazz Rhythm Section Workshop with Vince Maggio


Vince Lawrence Maggio received B.M. and M.M. degrees from the University of Miami. He studied at the American Conservatory in Chicago and was a private student of Oscar Peterson in Toronto. He toured nationally with his own "Vince Lawrence Trio" and has performed with Cannonball Adderly, Stan Getz, Sonny Stitt, Chet Baker, Kenny Dorham, and the late Mel Torme, and is a former faculty/artist member at the Aspen Music Festival. Maggio's student quintet, "The Bop Brothers," performs regionally and internationally, and are two time winners of The National Collegiate Jazz Competition in Boulder. Maggio's CD, Reunion, with saxophonist Mark Colby, was released on the Corridor label.
